Recap- Be Mine: Bronxmama Valentine Meetup at the Huntington Free Library

This past Saturday we hosted a fun Valentine’s Meetup at the Huntington Free Library in Westchester Square. The library, which was opened in 1891, provided the perfect backdrop for our event.

Children were able to decorate mailboxes from Oriental Trading as well as create Valentine’s cards to put in their mailboxes. It was fun to see how creative the little ones got, and their mailboxes came out beautiful.

Morris Perk was on hand providing coffee for the adults, and cupcakes to decorate for the kids. Putting their own sprinkles on the cupcakes was a big hit! Morris Perk currently hosts pop ups all throughout the Bronx, and coffee can be ordered via Paypal for delivery.

Applebees from the nearby Metro Center provided lunch for everyone and shared information about their lunch options as well as Car Side To Go option for easy online ordering and pick up.

Each guest went home with some fun goodie bags for the kids.

Minnow + Mars included a pack of their adorable socks, which were a huge hit with the parents. They also included the code BRONXMAMA to receive 15% off your first order!

La Cle’ included their Refocus Bands- which are bands with cool designs that contain positive messages. Available for children and adults, we could all use some positive reinforcement to look at throughout the day!

So Cozy, a salon formula line of products for kids, included their Styling Cream for the kids to try. The line is the first every professional line of products for kids- and is made gentle enough for them.

WannaSew included fun sewing kits in the goodie bags for kids to have their first sewing materials! Founder JC has a blog where she documents her work and recaps local sewing events in her area. Being that many schools have eliminated home economics classes, she believes it is important to teach children to learn to sew.

A super cute idea for hosting a Valentine’s party or to give out in class are the Welch’s Valentine’s Day fruit snacks pouches. Pick up a box at your local Target or supermarket and you’ve got the perfect treat to pass out to classmates.

Thanks again to all of our sponsors and everyone involved in making the event happen. The  kids had a blast and created some adorable Valentine’s crafts.

Stay tuned for more fun events throughout the year, and be sure to check out all of our sponsors! We’re always happy to host free and low cost events in the community and introduce them to both local businesses and brands.

Special thanks to Pope Jackson for the beautiful photos. To see the entire album, visit our Bronxmama Facebook page.
