From the moment we found out I was pregnant, my husband and I made the decision that we wanted to breastfeed exclusively for the first six months to a year. Being a first time mom, little did I realize that every woman’s body is different and my plans would be challenged by low milk production.

Though my son latched from birth right away with little resistance we were faced with challenges surrounding how much I was actually producing. It started with a rapid weight loss for our little guy and continued from there. We had no choice but to supplement with formula to make sure he would not lose any more weight.

Needless to say I was excited when we were given the opportunity to try out BabyNes by Gerber and share our experience with you. I immediately began to do my research on the product and the formula. I was encouraged to see that Gerber first and foremost supports and encourages breastfeeding as the best source of nutrition for your child, so naturally their product is designed to get as close to breast milk as possible.

Just like mother’s milk, BabyNes Formula is prepared in stages according to your baby’s nutritional needs. It contains essential nutrients to support healthy growth as well developing brain, visual and immune systems. There are 6 stages from newborn to 36 months. The amount of protein and calories evolve during the first six months, just like breastmilk. Those levels then remain around the same from 7 to 36 months since other foods are being introduced during this time. It’s also great to know there is an additional formula, named Soothe Formula, for babies that suffer from excessive crying, colic and fussiness.

If that wasn’t enough to win me over, the convenience of making a bottle for your little one in the middle of the night is priceless. With the push of a button you get warm, evenly mixed, lump-free formula in seconds. An awesome feature is that the machine is designed so that the formula can be prepared with just one hand! Another great fact to know is that the formula never comes into contact with the machine to maintain hygiene. It is also BPA-free, keeping harmful chemicals away from my baby is a huge concern for us. The formula is completely dissolved in the capsule and flows directly into your bottle at the temperature you set. The capsules have a built in water filter to ensure quality, no more boiling water for me!

One of my favorite features of the BabyNes Machine is that it can be linked to an application on your smart phone to provide you with comprehensive feeding information, such as how many bottles your baby is drinking. The system alerts you when you are running low on formula and allows you to quickly place an order for more. The app also tracks your baby’s nutrition and growth milestones, making it easy to share the information quickly and accurately with your doctor.

  2. Omg! Read about this and LOVE the idea! Kcups for babies lol. Would be prefect for those 12am, 3am, and 6am feeding for my little one who is 18 days old. Wouldn’t have to wake up the rest of the house to make a bottle.
