It’s official- the Bronx has it’s first Outback Steakhouse. Located at the Mall at Bay Plaza, the restaurant opened it’s doors on September 28th with a ribbon cutting and a portion of the first day’s sales donated to Harry S Truman High School. While there are so many amazing independent restaurants in the Bronx that you should be sure to support, Outback is one restaurant that many folks have been waiting for. We had the chance to check it out the first week it was open and happy to share a sneak peek and a giveaway!
We started off with the classic Blooming Onion and some wings with sauce on the side.
I opted to try the Blackberry Sangria- which can be ordered by the glass or in a carafe. Luis had an ice cold Stella to wash down the wings.
We loved the Sharables option for the sangrias- $15.50 for a carafe is a great price!
I was really interested in their surf and turf options, so I opted for a rib eye with lobster tail, mashed potatoes, and asparagus.
Luis went with a porterhouse, baked potato, and broccoli.
Briana had a sirloin with the Steakhouse Mac & Cheese.
Our Take: All three of us ordered different temperatures of steak- rare, medium rare, and medium well- and we were pleasantly surprised that each were done to perfection. No cook ups or replacement steaks needed. The sides were pleasing, and the drinks were great. The staff were still training when we went, so they were ironing our the kinks and getting adjusted to their new roles, but were friendly and eager to please.
The new Outback is located at 270 Baychester Avenue in the Mall at Bay Plaza. You can enter the restaurant from inside the mall or through their exterior entrance in front of the mall.
