THE BRONX TROLLEY: ARTFUL HEALTH

Wednesday, March 4, 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Can art be therapeutic? A representative from New York Creative Arts Therapists PLLC will take the audience on a mini-therapeutic journey, drawing inspiration from the art in the Museum as well as personal life experience. Participants will create their own art and consider the creative process from a therapeutic angle.

FIRST FRIDAYS! IN COLLABORATION WITH CARNEGIE HALL’S NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERTS: LA SANTA CECILIA

Friday, March 6, 6:00pm to 10:00pm

The Bronx Museum is proud to welcome La Santa Cecilia, the winners of the 2014 Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock Album, to First Fridays! La Santa Cecilia exemplifies the modern-day creative hybrid of Latin Culture, rock, and world music. This event will also feature guided tours of the galleries from 6pm to 8pm and an art-making workshop for kids throughout the event.

1040 LOUNGE: THE BRONX IS VOGUING

Thursday, March 19, 6:30pm to 9:00pm

In honor of its 25th Anniversary, the film Paris is Burning will be screened at the Bronx Museum, followed by a Q&A led by BronxWorks’ Sexual Health Promotion Through Youth Leadership youth as well as a Voguing Workshop led by Visual AIDS artist Kia LaBeija. Presented in collaboration with Visual AIDS (www.visualaids.org) and BronxWorks.

FIRST FRIDAYS! IN COLLABORATION WITH HAVANA FILM FESTIVAL

Friday, March 27, 6:00pm to 10:00pm

Kicking off the 16th Annual Havana Film Festival New York, The Bronx Museum will host a screening of Rumba Clave Blen Blen Blen, followed by a special performance by Dayramir Gonzalez & Habana enTrance. Music by DJ ASHO. By paying homage to the grand masters of the genre, Rumba Clave Blen Blen Blen takes us on a historical journey that traces the history of rumba in New York.
