BRONX FILM SCREENING: “ART IN HEAVEN,” A HAUNTING, POETIC TRIBUTE TO EUROPE’S ABANDONED SYNAGOGUES BY Z. S. ROSENFELD

FREE FILM EVENT IN PELHAM PARKWAY. Bronx World Film and Young Israel Pelham Parkway Jewish Center announce a joint screening of Art In Heaven, a short film by Riverdale resident Z. S. Rosenfeld with music by Elie Massias, this Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 3:00 pm, at the historic Bronx synagogue on Pelham Parkway South and Muliner Avenue. The director will be present for a question-and-answer session. Composer and multi-instrumentalist Elie Massias, the creative force behind the film’s haunting, magical score, will perform live. Art in Heaven weaves archival and personal footage and images gathered by Rosenfeld while photographing iconic abandoned synagogues of Europe into a tribute to the creativity of the artisans who decorated the continent with these unique prayer houses, many now in ruins.
