Green Generations offers FREE 2-hour workshops from 10am to 12pm once per month on Saturdays from May to October for children 8-12 years old. Each of these workshops have an eco-friendly theme to teach children about sustainability and cultivate a love for nature. The workshops are held at St. Mary’s Park and drop-off/pick-up will be in front of the St Mary’s Recreation Center entrance. There are a maximum of 8 children per group and workshops will be held rain or shine. If by chance there is severe weather, you will be notified of a cancellation.

Saturday, May 3rd: Nature Scavenger Hunt
Children will connect with nature and have smiles on their faces by going on a nature scavenger hunt. This experience will provide many opportunities for active learning and fun.
Saturday June 7th: Urban Gardening
Children will take a walk through St. Mary’s Park and identify urban plants. Then, they will be planting their own personal herb gardens to take home.
Saturday July 12th: Beautiful Butterflies and Busy Bees
Children will explore the intricate world of insects and study their important role in the urban environment.
Saturday Aug 9th: Trees, Leaves, and Me!
Children will learn how to identify trees by exploring their leaves and understand the significance trees contribute to biodiversity. Each child will have a hands-on experience with leaf exploration.
Saturday Sept 20th: R is for Rocks!
St. Mary’s Park is home to a diverse variety of rocks and many of them have been here for centuries. Children will learn about the history of the earth beneath them.
Saturday Oct 11th: Autumn Exploration
Fall is a beautiful time for harvesting, expressing gratitude, and learning about the change of seasons. Children will explore the fall foliage and decorate their own pumpkins to take home.
