Another wonderful afternoon spent with @themoms for Norwegian Cruise Lines #UltimateGetaway Family Fun Day, that’s had me googling cruise deals ever since. We had the chance to climb aboard the brand new Norwegian Getaway (twin to NYC’s Norwegian Breakaway) before it heads to it’s home port of Miami, FL on February 7th. Once we “embarked” we did a “step and repeat” for a quick family photo and were led into the Illusionarium for a delicious lunch that included fresh mozzarella and tomato with prosciutto, filet minion with shrimp and potato and a dessert assortment of berry compote, flan and fudge while the kids enjoyed chicken fingers with French fries, Mac and cheese and a Banaba cupcake for dessert. During our lunch we were treated to a sampling of shows that will be such as Burn the Floor, Legally Blonde, a magic show and the kids fave…Nicktoons!
Afterwards the kids had a chance to pose with Spongebob and Patrick, then check out Splash Academy (NCL’s complimentary youth program for ages 3-12 ) while adults received a tour of the ship. When I say this ship is incredible I mean INCREDIBLE! We were lucky to have a hilariously cool tour guide named Zachary aka #ZestyZach, he described the differences between the Getaway and the Breakaway, pointed out some of his favorite restaurants & bars, snuck us into the 800 person theater where shows like Legally Blonde will play and finally escorted us to The Haven, NCL’s private world of luxury. Just some of the accommodations in the haven are 24 hour butlers, a secluded courtyard and a private restaurant; as one can imagine a room on this part of the ship won’t come cheap but if you can swing it go for it.
The tour ended at the Splash Academy where we were able to pick up a VERY happy Dahlia who told us all about the activities like Wii U and immediately asked if we could vacation on the ship this summer, so I guess we’ll be saving our pennies over the next few months…maybe I’ll finally let her start that lemonade stand she’s been asking for after all. We were handed cute NCL Getaway tote bags with an NCL cap as we exited, which I sure hope we get to use in the near future.- Dalilah Smith-Santos
