On September 9, Paul Strand: The Mexican Portfolio opens at the Bronx Museum of the Arts. On view through January 2, 2011, the exhibition will feature twenty striking images of the people, landscape, architecture and religious objects that photographer Paul Strand encountered when visiting Mexico in 1932-33. One of the most highly acclaimed photographers of the twentieth century, Strand traveled all over the world, and his involvement with Mexican art, politics, and society enabled him to capture a realistic and vivid portrait of Mexico at the time.
2010 marks the bicentennial of Mexico’s Independence and the centennial of its Revolution. The opening of The Mexican Portfolio, in conjunction with Paul Strand in Mexico, on view at Aperture Gallery from September 9 through November 13, 2010, will celebrate these pivotal moments in Mexico’s history. The exhibition will be on view as of September 9, with an official public opening on September 16th.
BronxMama note-BronxMamas and Papas and older Bronx Teens will enjoy it best.
