Explore how flowers become fruits at this fun, hands-on program. Plant beans to take home, make pollinator puppets, and participate in a plant-part scavenger hunt, all demonstrating the life cycle of a plant and the pollination process.

Just about anywhere you look in the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden you will discover a different edible, from tomatoes and cilantro to cabbage and gourds. On any given day, visitors can get their hands dirty helping Family Garden staff to maintain the plots and help keep the garden healthy and prosperous.

Ballet Among the Blooms

Use your Toddler Time map for a self-guided tour through various indoor and outdoor child-friendly exhibits. Highlights include the Monkey House, Baboon Reserve, Mouse House, African Plains, and the World of Reptiles.

Family Day at the Nature Center
Saturday September 12th 11am-2pm
Join the Friends of Van Cortlandt Park and the Urban Park Rangers for an afternoon of fun at the Nature Center Garden.  Help us plant bulbs, shrubs and herbaceous plants throughout the garden.  Kids of all ages can make EcoCrafts or plant seeds in a peat pot to take home.  Enter the park at Broadway and W. 246th Street.
